Frequently Asked Questions
What is the R-value of this sleeping pad?
This sleeping pad has an R-value of 7.2. The higher the R-value, the better the insulation from cold ground. Check the specifications tab for seasonal suitability.
How light and compact is it when packed?
The TREKOLOGY R5 Insulated Sleeping Pad - SGS-Certified 5.5 Winter Camping Mat is designed for ultralight backpacking. Weight is approximately 900g. When deflated and rolled, it compresses to a small cylinder that fits inside or straps to a backpack.
How do I inflate it?
The pad can be inflated using the included pump sack (no lung power required) or by mouth using the valve. Inflation takes approximately 10–15 breaths or 3–5 pump-sack cycles. Deflation is fast — simply open the valve and roll.
How thick is it when inflated?
Check the specifications tab for the exact inflated thickness. Trekology sleeping pads are typically 3–4 inches thick, providing cushioning comparable to a home mattress for backcountry comfort.
Can I use it year-round including winter camping?
Suitability depends on the R-value. An R-value of 7.2 provides insulation suitable for specific temperature ranges — see the specifications tab for the recommended season range.
Does the Aluft pillow attach to this sleeping pad?
Yes. Trekology sleeping pads are designed to work with the Aluft pillow range. The Aluft 2.0 and Aluft Deluxe pillows feature a latch strap that clips to a loop or strap on compatible Trekology sleeping pads to prevent the pillow sliding off overnight.
