The handle is the part of a trekking pole you touch all day, so its feel can matter as much as the shaft. Cork and EVA foam are both popular grip materials. The right choice depends on how you like a handle to feel, how your hands respond during a hike, and what you value in a simple, reliable hold.
Cork is a natural material with a firm, slightly textured feel. It stays drier and less slippery than foam when your hands sweat, which makes it a favorite for hot, humid hikes. Over time, natural cork molds to the shape of your hand. Our TREK-Z Cork pairs a natural cork grip with an EVA foam lower grip for steep climbs.
EVA foam is soft and cushioned, so it feels comfortable from the first step. It absorbs sweat, does not feel cold on chilly mornings, and is the more affordable choice. Our TREK-Z EVA is also lighter than TREK-Z Cork and comes in two sizes.Â
A note on color: TREK-Z EVA is also sold in a cork-look color. The grip is still EVA foam, not
cork.
Choose cork if you hike in heat, your hands sweat a lot, or you like a firm grip.
Both TREK-Z sets share the same aircraft-grade aluminum shaft and fold down to 38 cm (15 in).The main difference is the grip. TREK-Z Cork comes in one size for hikers 5′2′′ to 6′5′′, and TREK-Z EVA comes in two sizes.
